Robert E. (Bob) Roush, Director, TCGEC, Baylor College of Medicine

Let me be the next one to post a personal statement about my background and interests. I've been at Baylor College of Medicine for 37 years, directing the TCGEC since it's inception in 1985. I enjoy my role as a geroeducator, working with my TCGEC colleagues around the state and with our medical students and geriatrics fellows at Baylor. My other professional interests in the field of aging are in the areas of late life creativity, gerontechnology, and emergency preparedness issues for seniors during disasters.

On a personal basis, I enjoy working out, playing golf, going to movies and the theatre, reading mystery novels and biographies, and visiting with my granddaughter in California.

Theresa Smith, Assistant Professor in the School of Occupational Therapy at Texas Woman's University. I have been teaching occupational therapy for 8 years and enjoy introducing my students to the rewarding opportunities of working with older adults. I am especially concerned with facilitating participation by older adults in the areas of occupation which satisfy them.

I am an animal lover, a big reader (especially murder/mystery), and enjoy attending plays and rock concerts. I enjoy working on physical fitness through walking, yoga, and pilates.

Peggy Gleeson, Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Education, School of Physical Therapy. For the past 18 years, I have managed all the clinical experiences for our entry level masters and doctoral students. In our new DPT program we are trying to broaden the areas of clinical experiences for our students to include more clinical sites on the geriatric spectrum (SNF, LTAC, Home Health) as well as the typical hospital and out patient venues. I have been in clinical practice for 33 years, and the last 4 years have been in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
